Summary of the nursing paper:

A 7 page research paper that discusses nursing leadership, which, under any circumstances, is a complicated subject. According to one estimate, there are over 100 accepted academic definitions of leadership (Manz, Bastien and Hostager, 1991). At present, issues of leadership are particularly crucial to nursing as the nursing shortage constitutes a crisis situation for many healthcare institutions and the profession in general. Never has nursing needed effective leadership more; never has the healthcare system depended as greatly as it does at present on nursing leaders. This examination looks at five themes evident in literature pertaining to nursing leadership and how these themes interrelate. Bibliography lists 10 sources.
